Airdrieonians vs Queen of South

Saturday 15th August 2009
Donnelly denies Queens A late equaliser from Bobby Donnelly earned Airdrie United a 1-1 draw with Queen of the South. Queens went ahead after 70 minutes when a contentious free-kick was awarded in front of the home side's dugout. Robert Harris launched the ball into the penalty area and the unmarked Stuart Kean, who had only been on the park seven minutes, headed beyond Stephen Robertson for the opener. But in the 81st minute Tom Nolan, featuring as a trialist, delivered a corner and David Hutton's failure to take control of the ball inside the box saw it fall for centre-back Donnelly to slam into the net.
