Airdrieonians vs Dundee

Saturday 29th August 2009
Dundee held again Dundee once again failed to live up to the tag of title-favourites as they made it three draws in a row by being held 1-1 at Airdrie. They started brightly and could have gone ahead in the first minute when Leigh Griffiths teed up his strike partner Colin McMenamin but he fired wide. Airdrie came back into the game, but the visitors took the lead nine minutes before half-time when McMenamin won the ball 40 yards out from Kevin McDonald and took the ball forward before before firing a wonderful strike in to the net from 25 yards. Airdrie levelled three minutes before the interval when Darren Smith made a great run down the right, cut inside and delivered a dangerous ball in to the visitors six-yard box which Jim Lauchlan put through his own net. The second half was an entertaining affair and the home side were grateful to goalkeeper Stephen Robertson for earning them a point as he made a fine save to deny Griffiths` angled shot.
