Thistle romp to victory

Patrick crushed Airdrie United with a superb 5-2 victory.

The visitors could have had more goals but they were unable to take their chances, although it mattered little as they ran out comfortable winners.

The home side took the lead inside the first minute, John Baird rattling home a 20-yard shot off the post.

Simon Donnelly curled in a 20-yard free-kick to haul Partick level, before Stephen McKeown put them into the lead with a deft chip.

Two minutes after the restart Steve Lovell powered in goal number three, but Baird hit back with an easy finish on the rebound for his second of the match to make it 3-2.

United took control and added two further goals to secure the win, Steve Lovell bursting through to score with a controlled finish, leaving Paul Cairney to round off the win after good work from Donnelly.
