Morton vs Airdrieonians

Saturday 26th September 2009
Morton climbed off the foot of the table and swapped places with opponents Airdrie with a 1-0 win thanks to Brian Graham's late winner. Co-caretaker managers James Grady and Allan McManus took control of the home side for the first time after Davie Iron's sacking earlier this week. And Morton could have taken the lead after just four minutes when Peter Weatherson's 25-yard free-kick curled inches wide. James McAlister then failed to divert home Erik Paartalu's driven cross when just a yard from goal midway through the first period. They scored the winner eleven minutes from time when Airdrie goalkeeper Stephen Robertson spilled and Graham slotted the ball into the roof of the net from six yards for his first goal of the season.
