Airdrie drop two points

Airdrie fought back from a goal down to take a point in a 1-1 draw at Stark's Park but will be disappointed not to have taken all three.

Rovers took an early lead after four minutes when recent signing Javier Amaya controlled the ball on the edge of the box and drilled the ball into Stephen Robertson's bottom left-hand corner.

But Airdrie were dominant for the remainder of the first half and were unlucky not to level when Alan Trouten's low cross reached Frankie Lagana but Thierry Gatheussi slid in to block his shot.

Home keeper David McGurn then kept his side level with a one-handed save to push Diarmuid O'Carroll's angled shot across goal and wide.

Although Rovers were improved after the break, Airdrie levelled with six minutes remaining when Paul Keegan crossed and although Scott Gemmill's initial header was brilliantly saved by McGurn, the sub reacted to bundle the ball home.

The visitors should have won it in injury time when Trouten was sent clean through but McGurn denied him with another fantastic low save.
