It is top versus bottom at the Falkirk Stadium as the Bairns minus midfielder Jay Fulton who has joined English Premiership side Swansea take on a Morton side that are showing signs of progress under Kenny Shiels.

Falkirk have added new loan recruit from Carlisle, striker Mark Beck, and defender Joe Chalmers from Celtic to a squad that misses only Thomas Grant through illness.

Technical Director Alex Smith said: “We are delighted that Jay has got himself a wonderful move to Swansea and we are sure that he will do well there. It is disappointing to lose him but someone else moves up the pecking order now and grabs a first team jersey.”

“We have worked hard to get into top spot but we have stressed to the players that they have to work even harder to stay there especially against a Morton side that are looking much more solid under Kenny Shiels.”

Morton include recently signed on-loan Celtic defender Stuart Findlay, who has served a two game ban in a combination of under-20 games for the Parkhead side and the Greenock side’s fixture against Queen of the South on Wednesday.

David Robertson and Gary O’Connor are both injury doubts with David O’Brien ruled out due to a lack of recent game time following a shoulder injury.

Moves to bring Rowan Vine in from Hibs hit a snag at a late stage however that looks to be resolved and he is set to join the Greenock men.

Shiels said: “I am really keen to add more firepower to my attack but so far my attempts have been fruitless. We are unbeaten in three games and only lost one goal so we have certainly improved defensively but we need to add more threat to our attack.”

“Falkirk are doing well but we can take something from this game.”
