The ‘Kincardineshire Derby’ is played for the ninety ninth time this evening and Dunfermline will look to protect an undefeated total of 4 in the League Cup ties from the near century of meetings between the sides.

Falkirk, who will be without the injured Jonny Flynn and have a doubt over Jay Fulton, are undefeated in 6 games so far this season and Technical Director Alex Smith knows that they will need to play well to keep things that way against the Pars.

Smith said: “It is always a big game when these two sides get together and this one will be no different. Dunfermline are showing a lot of spirit at the moment and they did really well to come back and win 5-4 at Stenhousemuir.”

“We are in for a tough evening however if we play as well as we did against Livingston, when we won 3-0 at the weekend, we will do okay.”

Dunfermline head to the Falkirk Stadium on a high after they came back from three goals and then two goals down to win at Ochilview and manager Jim Jefferies is telling his players that they will need the same level of resilience to win through.

Jefferies said: “The players stood strong on Saturday and that helped us turn a bad situation into a good one. We never played that badly but we were losing bad goals.”

“If we can cut those mistakes out of our game and show the same level of determination we are in with a chance against a Falkirk side that will be full of confidence after winning well at Livingston on Saturday.”

The Pars welcome back Chris Kane from a one match ban.
