Wallace treble for Fifers

A Ryan Wallace hat-trick gave East Fife their first back-to-back away wins of the season with a 3-1 victory at Brechin.

Ewan Moyes put the home side ahead in the 16th minute, firing past Michael Brown after a goalmouth scramble.

Top scorer Wallace then drew East Fife level, slotting home a typically cool finish when one-on-one with Craig Nelson for his 21st of the season.

Wallace continued to be the difference between the two sides, and he added his second after the break with another smart finish to take his personal tally to four goals in two games.

The 21-year-old rounded off a sparkling performance with a poacher's goal in injury time to complete a comfortable win for East Fife.

Brechin missing injured duo

Sixth-placed Brechin will be without the injured pair of David McClune and Derek Carcary when fifth-placed East Fife visit Glebe Park in a crucial match for both sides as they bid for a promotion play-off spot in Scottish Division Two.

Brechin manager Jim Weir said: "This is a big game and one we need to win to make sure we remain in touch with the sides chasing a play-off spot.

"We cannot lose ground and we also need to win to stop looking over ourselves in the other direction, as this league is incredibly tight.

"We won last week against Albion Rovers despite a poor performance. I am looking for an improved performance but the same result from this game."

East Fife welcome back striker Stevie Hislop after illness for the trip as new manager Gordon Durie looks to build on last weekend's 4-0 victory over Dumbarton.

The Fifers could also have Craig Johnstone back after a knock, but Stevie Campbell continues to be out.

Durie said: "Training was really upbeat this week after our win over Dumbarton and the players know that they need to do it all over again in another big match.

"We were great going forward and Scott Dalziel led the line really well and we need him to do that at Glebe Park.

"Our objective from this game is simple. We need to win it and start putting pressure on Stenhousemuir and Cowdenbeath for the run in."
