Neill strike earns draw

John Neill's fourth goal of the season earned Clyde a point in a 1-1 home draw against promotion-chasing Stranraer.

The visitors came into the game on the back of three straight league victories and looked likely to extend their good run when they went ahead through Martin Grehan's header after 18 minutes, the Partick loanee converting Stephen Stirling's corner.

Jim Duffy's side were back on level terms 10 minutes later when Neill swept home John Sweeney's right-wing cross.

Sean Winter and Frank McKeown both spurned good second-half opportunities for Stranraer before Sweeney almost earned the Bully Wee all three points with a right-footed free-kick on the hour mark which drew a great save from visiting goalkeeper Ryan Marshall.

Defensive difficulties for Clyde

Clyde are again without three members of their defence as they face leaders Stranraer, with goalkeeper Felip Mentel and defenders Gavin Brown and Declan Gallacher all missing through injury.

There was some good news for manager Jim Duffy during the week, however, with recent signing Jason Marr announcing his availability after a knock and midfielder John Sweeney back after suspension.

Duffy said: "Stranraer are a good side who are playing well just now but in this league anything can happen. They have four really good frontmen and if we can control them then we can do something in this game.

"We are really looking forward to it and, one thing is for sure, our players will go out and work hard to get a result."

Stranraer have lost full-back Scott Taggart from their squad for the clash, as his loan spell from Hibernian has come to an end.

Midfielder Chris Aitken is also out with a broken bone in his foot, but manager Keith Knox admitted that he is unlikely to make many changes after three wins in a row.

Knox said: "We are scoring goals from all areas of the team and that has taken some of the pressure off the strikers.

"I am not planning to change much as we are playing well just now so it will only be a case of minor adjustments, but I am very conscious that Clyde are a side that create a lot of chances."
