Champions Alloa beat Stranraer for the fourth time this season with a 3-1 victory.

Stranraer slipped to third in the table after a third straight defeat but have already secured a place in the play-offs.

Alloa went ahead in the 13th minute through Ryan McCord. The midfielder found the top corner with a thunderous 20-yard effort.

Grant Gallagher equalised for the away side in the 25th minute, firing in from the edge of the penalty area for his first league goal of the season.

But Alloa were back in the lead nine minutes later when Robert Winters slotted home from close range.

McCord volleyed in the third from the edge of the area for his 10th goal of the season as Alloa bounced back from last week's heavy defeat against Berwick.

Hartley ready to change champions

Irn-Bru Division Three champions Alloa have everyone fit and available for the visit of second-placed Stranraer.

Manager Paul Hartley is poised to make changes to his starting line-up following the Wasps' 5-0 defeat at Berwick last Saturday.

He said: "I do not want to be too critical as the players have been magnificent for me all season, but the team I sent out should have done better than we showed last week."

"Hopefully we can put that right with a good display against a Stranraer side that play good football and usually just keep on attacking you, no matter the score.

"They will want to ensure that they finish in second place but I am determined that Alloa finish the season on a high, so it should be an exciting game."

Stranraer are looking to take their first points of the season from Alloa and they welcome back Stephen Noble and Martin Grehan after injury to help their cause at Recreation Park.

David MacGregor and Steven Stirling both remain out with knocks.

"Alloa are worthy Champions but they will be smarting after losing to Berwick last week," said manager David MacGregor.

"We want to finish the season as high as we can and winning in this game takes us closer to second place."

"The first two games between us were close affairs but we have not managed to win or even draw against Alloa this season. It would be good to put that right in this one as they beat us too easily in the last game."
