Berwick boss Jimmy Crease has admitted that the prospect of playing every week was the reason behind Darren Gribben’s eleventh hour change of mind to sign for the Borderers after agreeing a move to First Division Hamilton Accies.

Crease said, “Darren was our top goalscorer last season and I am delighted to have him back at the club. He spent pre-season training at Hamilton and was all set to sign for them until he had a late change of heart. He decided that playing football regularly was the most important thing to him and he felt that he would get that at Berwick.”

“Everyone here is delighted to have him available for our Third Division campaign.”

Crease has also added former Hibs, Airdrie and Albion Rovers midfielder Darren Smith and one-time Fulham striker Stuart Noble to his squad following the 27 year olds release from Alloa.
