Leaders Celtic returned from the Clydesdale Bank Premier League two-week winter break and saw off Hearts 4-1 at Parkhead on Saturday afternoon to stay nine points clear at the summit.

Gary Hooper bagged a double, with Lassad Nouioui and Georgios Samaras also on target for Neil Lennon's team. Jason Holt netted for the visitors midway through the second half.

Inverness CT are clear in second spot after defeating Aberdeen 3-0 at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium. All the goals came in the second half - Andrew Shinnie broke the deadlock and SPL top scorer Billy McKay bagged a brace to take his tally for the season to 16 league goals.

Ivan Sproule netted twice on his debut as Ross County enjoyed a 4-1 win away to St Mirren. Richard Brittain and Sam Morrow also scored for the Staggies who are now 11 points clear of bottom club Dundee. St Mirren's goal came through Steven Thompson.

Johnny Russell hit a hat-trick to give Dundee United a 3-2 victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. Manuel Pascali netted both Killie goals but the visitors were well worth their win.

Hibernian and Dundee drew 1-1 at Easter Road. The Dark Blues took an early lead through John Baird but leading marksman Leigh Griffiths equalised shortly after the interval for Hibs.

Motherwell are at home to St Johnstone on Sunday, live on ESPN at 2.15pm.
