Leigh Griffiths grabbed a late winner as Hibernian beat Aberdeen 2-1 in the semi-finals of the William Hill Scottish Cup at Hampden on Saturday to reach their first final since 2001.

Hibs will face Hearts or Celtic - who meet at the National Stadium on Sunday - on Saturday May 19 as they seek their first Scottish Cup triumph since way back in 1902.

Garry O'Connor gave Hibs an early lead from close range but Aberdeen levelled through Rory Fallon's stunning second-half strike, only for Griffiths to settle the tie after 85 minutes.

Hibernian boss Pat Fenlon said: "We probably didn't pass the ball as well as we can but it's a semi-final and that can sometimes happen. We're there and that's the main thing.

"Whoever comes out on top on Sunday, we are going to have to play really well to beat them, but we have had a little bit of luck in the cup so far so maybe it might be our year.

Aberdeen manager Craig Brown said: "The dressing room is full of despair and despondency but we only have ourselves to blame because we didn't play at all in the first half. When we got to 1-1 we had an opportunity, we'll never have a better opportunity, to get to a cup final, and we failed."
