Albion Rovers Manager Paul Martin has released two players from his promotion winning squad and offered a deal to a striker at the club that recently broke every bone in his face in a training ground accident. Defender Alan Benton has been released after 4 seasons at Cliftonhill with midfielder Darren Smith also moving on after a short stop in Coatbridge.

Martin said, "I would like to thank Alan for his efforts over the past 4 seasons and wish him well in getting a new club. Darren came in when we were short of players a couple of months ago and hopefully he will get something sorted soon as well."

Front man Ian Smith who required extensive facial surgery after being injured in a clash with team-mate Michael McGowan has been given the chance to re-start his career by signing again with Martin saying, "Ian is not too sure about whether he wishes to play again after his injury, however hopefully he will come in for pre-season training and we can take things from there."
