Ayr United have built on the increased backing they have received from supporters and Chairman Lachlan Cameron to bring striker Liam Buchanan to the club.

The Honest Men have  brought in the former Cowdenbeath, Partick Thistle, Dunfermline Athletic and Sligo Rovers frontman after manager Mark Roberts’ budget was boosted by over £20,000 after cash injections.

Jim Kirkwood’s Allanvale Land Investments, who are development partners with the club, handed over £7,500 and singing fan Somerset Boab raised a staggering £16,800 after launching a CD to raise funds.

His efforts rewarded by a £1,450 donation from sponsors Bodog with Chairman Cameron handing over a £10,000 cheque as well.

A delighted Roberts said: “This can help change our season as we can look to attract more experienced players to the club. We can now compete with other clubs in this League and my thanks go to everyone who has helped out.”
