Stirling moves to Morton

Thursday 31st May 2012

Morton manager Allan Moore has continued the rebuilding of his squad by signing midfielder Stephen Stirling from Third Division Stranraer.

The 22 year old started his career at Rangers and had a loan period at Stirling Albion when they were in the First Division before being released by the Ibrox side a year ago.

Stirling dropped down to the Third Division to play regularly and he scored 12 times for the Blues and his form has earned him another opportunity at full time football with Moore saying, “Stephen was a player I looked at last season but it is fair to say that he has really blossomed at Stranraer.”

Moore has already signed up full back Willie Dyer from Raith Rovers and Hamilton Accies experienced defender Mark McLaughlin and St Mirren youngster Jason Naismith on a six month loan deal for next season.

Naismith who turns 18 next month has featured in the Paisley first team on two occasions and has just returned from the ADO Den Hagg Tournament with the Scotland under-20 squad.
