Kilmarnock can climb to a season high of eighth place if they beat visitors St Mirren at Rugby Park to make it three wins from four games.

Manager Allan Johnston said: “This is a really big game for us on a number of fronts. We had been on a decent run before losing to Hibs at the weekend and we want to bounce back from that. Also we have the chance to get up another place in the table and that is important after the start that we made.”

“The squad are showing very positive signs of gelling together and hopefully that will continue to grow in 2014 starting against St Mirren.”

Killie are again without Ismael Bouzid, James Fowler and Reuben Gabriel through injury.

St Mirren are looking to bounce back from the disappointment of losing a lead and two points in their 1-1 draw with Hearts on Sunday.

Manager Danny Lennon said: “We made a good start against Hearts and got ahead but we never added to it. We dropped the points when they scored a bit of a wonder goal but we should have had the game won with the chances we had.”

“We made poor decisions and hopefully it will be better against Kilmarnock.

The Paisley side miss skipper Jim Goodwin who begins his two game ban that was handed out for an incident that was caught on camera in his side’s recent 4-1 win over Dundee United.

Kenny McLean could return after a knee injury and Marc McAusland should also be available with Marian Kello included after agreeing a longer deal at the club with new loan signing from Newcastle, striker Adam Campbell, likely to be involved at some stage.
