Arbroath, who could be relegated if they lose to visitors Stranraer and East Fife see off Stenhousemuir, hope to have on-loan Dundee striker Leighton McIntosh back in their ranks after an ankle injury.

Connor Birse is the only absentee for the Red Lichties due to a knee problem.

Paul Sheerin’s side were ahead twice last week at Stenhousemuir however they were pegged back on both occasions with the player/ manager saying: “The game at Ochilview summed up how the second half of this season has gone for us. We have played well however we have not been able to get a win as we have lost poor goals at bad times.”

“I cannot fault the effort that the players have put in but we do have a terrible habit of losing goals that hurt us at the closing stages of halves.”

After two defeats a draw with the promotion seeking Stair Park side Sheerin is hoping that his side can come out on top and that Stenhousemuir can do them a favour by winning at Bayview.

Sheerin said: “It is good that East Fife are facing a side that have a lot to play for however if they drop points we have to do our part and win our game. There has never been more than one goal between Stranraer and ourselves all season so we are not far away from them. We are due a win and hopefully we will get it.”

Third placed Stranraer are without a win in 6 games however they hope to make a positive move towards securing a play-off spot at Gayfield.

They welcome back Stephen Stirling to help them after suspension however captain Frank McKeown drops out as is starting a ban with the long term injured Chris Aitken and Marc Corcoran remaining out for the Blues.

Manager Stephen Aitken said: “Arbroath are a side that can play really good football so it will be disappointing for them to find themselves where they are. However they have a cause to fight for and they add that to their good play we are in for a tough afternoon.”

“We are still some points short of securing a play-off place so a win would be terrific.”
