Wednesday 8th November 2017

Dundee United have appointed former Hearts boss Csaba Laszlo as their new manager following the recent departure of Ray McKinnon.

The Ladbrokes Championship title challengers have also confirmed that assistant Laurie Ellis and the rest of the backroom team will remain at Tannadice.

Laszlo, 53, has agreed a deal until May 2019 and takes charge for the first time on Saturday when United host Crusaders in the quarter-finals of the IRN-BRU Cup, kick-off 1.00pm.

He was most recently manager of Dunajska Streda in Slovakia and can also count Charleroi and MTK Budapest among his former clubs.

Chairman Stephen Thompson told the club website: "After meeting Csaba, seeing his enthusiasm for the job and his understanding of what is required by Dundee United, he emerged as the outstanding candidate.

“Csaba’s CV is very impressive and his enthusiasm very infectious - after we met, the board spoke to many people who had worked with him in football and I believe we have secured a fantastic coach, man-manager and a highly-experienced tactician.”
