Ever improving Dumbarton have added former Queens Park striker Owen Ronald to their squad on a deal until the end of the season.
The 19-year-old, who was voted as the IRN-BRU SFL’s Young Player of the Month last March, asked to be released by the Spiders back in December.
Ronald turned out recently for both Airdrie United and Stenhousemuir as a trialist and this move means that he has followed in the footsteps of his dad, Paul, for a third time.
The now 41-year-old also played for Dumbarton during his long career as well as the Diamonds before bringing the curtain down on his career at Hampden.
Sons’ boss Ian Murray said: “Owen has bags of pace and gives us a bit of depth in the squad after losing a few players recently.”
Not such good news for Murray is that captain Andy Graham will be out for at least 5 weeks after having his broken wrist put in a plastercast with the Dumbarton boss adding: “Andy has been a real inspirational figure recently so losing him is a blow. We will just have to get on with it starting at Raith on Saturday.”
