East Fife midfielder, Jamie Pollock, was looking forward to meeting newly appointed New Bayview Park Manager Billy Brown this week as he was able to tell him that he has just won the latest SFL Goal of the Month competition.

September Goal of the Month - Jamie PollockPollock’s stunning solo effort against Ayr United was voted as the best of the ten goals for September by a mixture of fans and media representatives and the former Motherwell youngster said: “That is great news and was something to tell the new boss when I met him for the first time.  I knew it was a good goal and I was pleased when I heard it was a contender and then to win sounds really good.”

The 20-year-old's strike came after just five minutes in only his second game for the Fifers as he played a one-two at the edge of the box before nut-megging an opponent - Archie Gemmil style - dribbling past another before shooting home a low left foot shot.

He said: “It was a great way to get my career at East Fife off to a good start as it was only a few minutes into my home debut.  I scored a couple of goals for Clyde during a loan spell there last season but this was not a bad way to get off the mark for my new side.

“Unfortunately, I could not say too much about the goal afterwards as we lost the game 3-2 so the afternoon ended up in a disappointing way but this makes up for some of that.”
