Queen of the South striker, Nicky Clark, has already won a pair of Ginger Boots this season as well as an IRN-BRU award for being the Phenomenal Player of the Month for November and he can now add a SFL Goal of the Month Award to his CV.

Nicky Clark celebrates his goal against ArbroathThe 21-year-old former Aberdeen and Peterhead striker was selected as the best of the best 10 goals scored in January for his effort in the 5-1 win over Arbroath on 5th January.  It was a great win for the Doonhamers as they played for 70 minutes with only 10 men after Mark Durnan had been sent off and Clark put the icing on the cake when he rounded off a fine passing move that began close to the half-way line by side-stepping two defenders and passing the ball into the far corner.

Team-mate Daniel Carmichael was also up for this month's award after his superb strike against Ayr United and Clark was pleased to come out on top as he explained: “I am delighted my goal has won as it is the best one of the season from me.  It was a good team goal with a few players involved and I watched it on sfl.tv a few times when I heard it was up for Goal of the Month.”

Clark, who has scored 30 times this season, added: “It has been a great season for me and hopefully, there are more goals to come.  We are doing very well in the Second Division just now and have The Ramsdens Cup Final to come as well so there are more prizes on offer.”

The Dumfries side have Clark’s Dad, Sandy, as their Assistant Manager and Clark junior had a message for him saying: “He scored a lot of goals as a player but I can’t remember any of a similar type to that one.”

One prize has still to materialise as Clark added: “I am still waiting for my Ginger Boots for January as the supplier has changed.  Hopefully, they will be here before the season ends.”
