Naysmith extends East Fife stay

Former Scotland star extends time at East Fife

Former Scotland defender Gary Naysmith has agreed to stay with East Fife until the end of the season in a player/assistant manager role, with the 34-year-old having an option to remain for longer.

Naysmith started his career at Hearts in 1996 before moving to England where he played with Everton, Sheffield United and Huddersfield Town. He joined Aberdeen last summer before making the move to Methil.

While Naysmith is staying at Bayview, former Hearts, Leicester City and Dundee United defender Robbie Neilson has left the club to join Hearts as a replacement for coach Darren Murray, who is joined Steven Pressley at Coventry.

A spokesperson for East Fife said: “We are delighted to have Gary extending his time with us and we would also like to wish Robbie all the best for the future.”
