Celtic midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura capped a great Sunday by lifting the SPFA Player of the Year award at a ceremony in Glasgow.

The Japan internationalist scored a stunning free-kick at Kilmarnock to seal the title for Gordon Strachan's side then was voted best player in the Bank of Scotland Premierleague by his fellow professionals.

Nakamura, who beat team-mates Artur Boruc and Lee Naylor plus Aberdeen defender Russell Anderson to the main award, also won Goal of the Season for a clever chip against Dundee United.



Kilmarnock striker Steven Naismith took the SPFA Young Player of the Year award, ahead of fellow nominees Aiden McGeady (Celtic), Charlie Adam (Rangers) and Scott Brown (Hibernian).Celtic gaffer Gordon Strachan was named Manager of the Year by his fellow bosses while Falkirk FC were named Community Club of the Year.
