Hibernian have the chance to move 7 points clear of the dreaded second bottom place when they host Aberdeen at Easter Road tonight in the final game before the split.

The Edinburgh side will need uplift in form to get the win as Terry Butcher’s side have only picked up one win in 12 games.

The Dons can move 3 points clear of Motherwell in second place if they can repeat their 2-0 success in Leith from earlier this season however their recent form has not been sparkling either as they have only drawn their last 3 games.

Hibs are without injured defenders Paul Hanlon and James McPake with manager Terry Butcher saying: “We have tried a few combinations to get us going again in the league and they have not all worked. Hopefully we can get the right team on the park that can get us the win over Aberdeen.”

“Our last games give everyone at the club the chance to stand up and be counted. We need to put points on board and bring some positivity back.”

Pittodrie assistant manager Tony Docherty said: “We know that we will face a tough test at Hibs as they will be really keen to get points on board. However we have our own very valid reasons for wanting to win.”

“We are in control of our own destiny in terms of finishing second and hopefully we can take a major step forward by winning at Easter Road but it will be tough.”

Barry Robson is included by the Dons after illness however defender Clark Robertson and winger Jonny Hayes remain out.
