78 - Sunday’s showpiece will be the 78th League Cup final - the first final took place in April 1947 when Rangers defeated Aberdeen 4-0.

27 - Rangers have won the League Cup a record 27 times but not since 2010/11 when Nikica Jelavic scored an extra-time winner as Walter Smith’s side beat Celtic 2-1.

6 - Aberdeen are six-time winners of this competition – their first success was against St Mirren in 1955/56 and their most recent win was against Inverness Caledonian Thistle in 2013/14. Derek McInnes’ side won 4-2 on penalties after a 0-0 draw at Celtic Park.

7 - Sunday’s game will be the seventh League Cup final between Aberdeen and Rangers. The most recent was in 1992/93 when Rangers won 2-1 after extra time. The Dons triumphed in 1989/90 when Alex Smith & Jocky Scott’s team took the trophy thanks to a Paul Mason double.

1 - The first League Cup final to be decided on penalties was in 1987/88 when Rangers beat Aberdeen 5-3 on spot-kicks after a thrilling 3-3 draw.

107, 609 - The record League Cup final attendance was set in October 1965 when 107,609 fans saw Celtic beat Rangers 2-1 at Hampden. 

4 - The only player to score four goals in a League Cup final is Jim Forrest, who achieved the feat for Rangers in a 5-0 victory over Greenock Morton in 1963/64.

3 - This is the third meeting of the sides this season. Aberdeen won 3-1 at Ibrox in September and it finished 1-1 at Pittodrie last month. The next game between the teams is on Tuesday February 6.
