The 22-year-old right-back joins the Dons from Stabaek in Norway and, pending international clearance, he could make his debut in Saturday's game against Rangers at Ibrox.
Manager Derek McInnes told the club website: "We’ve pulled out all the stops to get Hernandez to Pittodrie and part of the squad for this weekend - everyone is excited about his potential."
