Alan Adamson’s reward for ensuring that Dumbarton avoided automatic relegation to Division Three has been to secure the manager’s job at the Sons on a permanent basis. Adamson, who was Assistant Manager to previous Manager Jim Chapman, took on the role in October when Chapman was moved into a Youth and Community role with the Strathclyde Homes Stadium side bottom of the table with only 4 points from their opening 10 games.
A run of good results under Adamson, who used to be the manager of the British Police football team, has seen them move up to seventh place with their 5-2 win over Peterhead ensuring that they cannot now be caught by the bottom placed Blue Toon side.
Chief Executive Gilbert Lawrie said, “We are delighted to confirm Alan as manager and he is the unanimous choice of the board to take the club into the next season. His first official game in charge is this Saturday’s clash with Airdrie United.”
Adamson beamed, “I am pleased to be officially appointed as the manager of Dumbarton Football Club and I am looking forward to the challenges ahead. The current season is not yet finished and there is still a bit to do to secure our safety in Division Two by avoiding the Play-Offs. That is my immediate priority."
