Airdrieonians striker John Boyle has taken a huge step forward after a year out with a knee injury.
The 27-year-old got an hour of action against Morton in a Reserve League Cup tie and manager Gary Bollan said: “Everyone at the club was delighted that John played.
"He was on the bench and we planned to give him some time towards the end of the game but circumstances dictated that he came on during the first half.
“He will need a couple more games but his first-team comeback is not far away.”
