Airdrieonians beat Welsh champions The New Saints 2-1 in front of 3,191 fans at the Falkirk Stadium to claim the SPFL Trust Trophy.
Ben Clark fired TNS ahead after just 12 minutes to put Craig Harrison's side on course for a 27th consecutive victory in all competitions but Liam McStravick scored a superb equaliser when he found the top corner 10 minutes later.
Both teams missed good chances in an open and entertaining first half but the second period produced fewer opportunities in front of goal.
The decisive moment came midway through the second half when Josh O'Connor was brought down in the box and Nikolay Todorov sent the penalty low into the corner.
New Saints pressed hard for an equaliser but Rhys McCabe’s men held on as the Diamonds won the trophy for the first time since 2008/09 and the fifth time overall.
