Aitken finally lands Gibson

Winger joins Stair Park side

Stranraer manager Stephen Aitken’s dogged pursuit of winger Willie Gibson has paid off with the 30 year old finally agreeing to join the Stair Park side.

Aitken had tried to bring the former Queen of the South, Kilmarnock, Dunfermline Athletic, Crawley Town, St Johnstone and Falkirk wide-man in when he left Cumbrian side Celtic Nation in the summer however Gibson held off to see what other offers were made.

Gibson then joined Evo-Stick League Northern Premier side Workington Town a fortnight ago however after discovering that he was signing only week to week contracts Aitken got in touch again.

The Blues boss eventually got his man and he could be involved against his former East End Park side tomorrow with Aitken saying: “We have needed a striker all season and Willie has been a target for a long time.”

“There were a few obstacles but we have got there and I am delighted to bring Willie on board.”
