Alloa manager Allan Maitland is taking his first team squad to Oban on Saturday to defend the Keyline Cup that the Wasps have won twice in the past three years. Scottish Cup winners Dundee United are also taking part in the round robin tournament that features the local amateur side Oban Saints, who were recently crowned Scottish Champions as well as the youth teams of Hamilton Accies, St Johnstone and Hearts.
The trip is more than just silverware with Maitland explaining, “It is a great tournament for building fitness with five short intense games but it is also a great time for the players to bond. We have changed our squad quite dramatically and we will stay up at Oban for the boys to get to know each other better and to do some training on the Sunday as well.”
