Partick Thistle have appointed club captain Alan Archibald as coach to the Firhill side’s Under-17 side after former St. Mirren, Aberdeen and Jags player Ian Cameron decided to leave his youth role at the club.
Thistle’s Head of Youth Development Gerry Britton said, “Ian felt that this was the right time for him to move on from the club. We were all disappointed to hear that but wish him all the very best for the future.”
“Ian has played a huge role in improving the youth structure at the club with his hard work being rewarded with the Under-19 side winning the SFL League Cup in May 2010. Probably more important than that, he played a key role in the development of players such as Stuart Bannigan, Kieran Burns, Jamie Campbell, Shaun Fraser and Ryan Scully, who have all gone on to play in the Thistle first team."
Britton added, “Alan will now fill the really important role with our Under-17 side.”
