Hibernian have been rewarded for their September revival after winning two SPFL monthly awards, with Alan Stubbs and Jason Cummings the recipients.
Stubbs was voted SPFL Championship Manager of the Month after guiding his side to two wins in three games, including the impressive 3-1 victory over Rangers at Ibrox.
In addition, Jason Cummings – who bagged a brace in that game – has been named SPFL Young Player of the Month for September, an award which covers all four divisions.
The Easter Road side, who have climbed to fifth in the Championship table, also defeated Cowdenbeath 3-2 early in the month, with the 19-year-old grabbing the crucial injury-time winner.
As well as recovering their league form, September also saw Hibs progress to the quarter-finals of the Scottish League Cup thanks to a 2-0 win over Ross County in Dingwall.
It is a first Scottish managerial award for Stubbs, who arrived in Edinburgh after more than five years coaching at Everton. The 45-year-old has been at the helm since June this year.
The SPFL’s monthly awards are held in conjunction with the Scottish Football Writers’ Association, with winners voted for by members of the Scottish media. Also included in the voting panel was one lucky football fan - this month it was Falkirk supporter Craig Cruickshanks.
Craig won the SPFL’s Facebook competition to take part in the voting process, with the additional prize of presenting an award to some of the winners.
The SPFL will run the competition again ahead of voting for awards for October – keep an eye on the official SPFL Facebook page for details: www.facebook.com/spflofficial
