Ayr United beat Hamilton Accies 3-2 at New Douglas Park on Friday night to move six points clear at the top of the cinch Championship.
Dipo Akinyemi scored a double to take his tally to 13 league goals but Accies twice hit back through Steve Lawson (penalty) and a Finn Ecrepont own goal.
Ben Dempsey grabbed the winner from the penalty spot with seven minutes left as Lee Bullen's men edged out the bottom club in an action-packed 90 minutes.
