An opportunity has arisen for young footballers to join Ayr United's elite level under 19 side with an open try-out taking place this coming Thursday evening in Ayr.
Spaces have become available for talented young footballers in the top-level side, a team that regularly supplies players to Ayr United boss Mark Roberts throughout the SFL playing season.
In recent times, players of the calibre of Mark Shankland, Robbie Crawford, Jackson Longridge, Alan Forrest and Michael Wardrope have all graced the Ayr United senior squad after producing performances that have caught the eye of the AUFC boss. Many more of the under 19 players are consistent members of the AUFC reserve team squad, giving them more time to build experience against seasoned pros from Scotland’s professional ranks.
Participation is free but spaces are limited and due to the short time scale involved, interested players are asked to contact us as soon as possible
Coach Andy Willock said, “We have some spaces appearing for the upcoming season due to promotions to the senior squad and want to offer this opportunity out to prospective young footballers.”
“We know that not everyone gets the opportunity to join an Academy at a young age and progress through the ranks like some of our players. This opportunity gives that chance for players to join a progressive, modern and opportunity driven top level Academy and offers an excellent chance for some talented young players to jump start their career into the professional ranks.”
Players with previous experience within the elite ranks of Academy clubs in Scotland are of particular interest to the coaches but players from all backgrounds will be welcomed.
