Cowdenbeath boss Jimmy Nicholl is delighted that his men have done so well in pre-season but knows tonight’s encounter with St Mirren will be their toughest test so far.
The Central Park men defeated Blyth Spartans 4-1 then saw off Linfield as they gear up for their Championship season, as well as cup ties against Brechin City and Clyde.
Nicholl said: “It was great to win in England and Northern Ireland but we will not be getting over excited by it. In the game at Blyth they changed their team at half-time and I would suggest the team in the first half, which was a goal ahead, were the stronger of their two sides.
“Linfield had a great European result on Thursday so were not at full strength against us on the Saturday. It was still good to get the wins but there is no point in getting carried away.
“St Mirren had a good win against Morton on Saturday and will be looking to build on that so this should be a demanding examination of where we are at the moment.”
Summer signing Sean Higgins got an hour against Linfield as he battles back after a calf injury, with Nicholl still looking to finalise his strike-force for next season.
He added: “We have lost Kane Hemmings and Greg Stewart and it is a big job to replace them. We have had trialists in from England, who did well, as well as a Slovenian boy who we had a look at last week.
“I have still to make up my mind on what will be the best combination for us - hopefully I will have a clearer idea after this game.”
