The Scotland skipper had a scan on Monday and it is hoped surgery will not be required but boss Ronny Deila has confirmed a likely absence of between eight and 12 weeks.

Celtic face Ajax in the Europa League at Parkhead on Thursday - live on BT Sport at 8.05pm - and travel to Inverness in the Ladbrokes Premiership on Sunday, live on Sky Sports at 12.15pm.
