Celtic are champions

William Hill Premiership title retained in style

Celtic thrashed Dundee United 5-0 at Tannadice this afternoon to secure their fourth title in a row and did so with four matches to spare.

A Ryan Strain own goal was followed by doubles from Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah as Brendan Rodgers' men racked up another big win.

The Hoops will receive the trophy after their last home game of the season against St Mirren on Saturday May 17, live on Sky Sports, kick-off 12.30pm.

Elsewhere in the William Hill Premiership, Aberdeen ended Hibernian's long unbeaten run with a 1-0 success at Pittodrie to move level on points with David Gray's men while St Mirren and Rangers drew 2-2 in Paisley.

Ross County now occupy the relegation play-off place after losing 2-0 to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park while Dundee beat Heart of Midlothian 1-0 at Tynecastle. Motherwell defeated bottom club St Johnstone 3-2 at Fir Park to leave Saints six points adrift at the foot of the table.
