Celtic progress in Champions League

Late goal sends Brendan Rodgers' side into knock-out stages

Celtic are through to the Champions League knock-out phase with a game to spare after a dramatic 1-0 win over Swiss side Young Boys at Parkhead.

The William Hill Premiership leaders dominated the first half but Kyogo Furuhashi had three goals disallowed and Arne Engels missed a penalty.

The breakthrough came with five minutes left when Loris Benito turned the ball into his own net after Adam Idah's shot had been saved by the keeper.

Winger Daizen Maeda was sent off a few minutes later following a VAR review but the hosts held on for a crucial victory to climb to 18th place in the overall standings.

Celtic complete the league phase away to Aston Villa next week but are guaranteed to progress after picking up 12 points from their seven matches so far.
