Clyde fans are looking to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the club’s only ever foray into Europe by raising funds through a sponsored walk of 12 miles from their old home in Glasgow’s South side at Shawfield to their new home at Broadwood in Cumbernauld on Saturday, August 7 prior to their league game with Stranraer.
The Bully Wee took park in an inter-League competition between England, France and Scotland known as The Friendship Cup in 1960 and came through it undefeated. The competition featured four teams from each country with the results aggregated to define the 'best' League and Clyde did their bit by defeating French side Lens 4-0 away and 2-1 at Shawfield.
The Friendship Cup proved to be an unpopular format and was dropped in 1962.
