Clyde will not rush into choosing a replacement for Jim Duffy as the Morton-bound boss has left the club in such a good condition.
Duffy told the Bully Wee on Monday that he was leaving after more than three years but director Gordon Thomson said: “It is more important that we make the right appointment, not a quick one.
“At this time of the year, crucial decisions need to be made regarding players but we are in the fortunate position that Jim had already done that.
“There is a core of a good squad here, one that had a taste of the play-offs recently, and therefore things do not need to be rushed. We are drawing up a job specification just now then we will ask for applications.
“We have still to determine what kind of manager we would like and, whilst we have had notes of interest already, we are sure that there will be more. The job is a much more attractive one than when Jim took it on as we are in a much better state financially then when he arrived.
“We cannot praise Jim highly enough for the job he has done - we are disappointed to lose him but recognise that the lure of full-time football is strong. He has helped Clyde stabilise on the field and also helped the directors stabilise it off the field as well.
“He leaves here with our best wishes and thanks for a job very well done. There are big shoes to be filled and we will take our time getting the right person to fill them.”
