Clyde top goalscorer from Title winning season passes away

Bully Wee striker Peter Boyle passes away in Australia

Clyde have advised that their top goalscorer in their Second Division Championship winning side in the 1972-73 campaign, Peter Boyle, has passed away in Australia aged 61.

Boyle joined the Bully Wee in 1972 from Larkhall Thistle and scored twice on his debut in a 4-1 Friendly win over Barrow before netting 16 times as Archie Robertson's team won the Title.

Boyle left Shawfield in 1977 for Australian side West Adelaide after scoring 48 goals in 132 matches and his form Down Under saw him earn an International cap for the Socceroos, against Czechoslovakia in 1980.

Clyde Secretary John Taylor said: “Peter is well remembered at our club and our condolences are with his family and friends at this time.”
