Commons delighted with award

Celtic's attacking midfielder Kris Commons was thrilled to be named PFA Scotland Player of the Year at a ceremony on Sunday night.

Celtic's attacking midfielder Kris Commons was thrilled to be named PFA Scotland Player of the Year at a ceremony on Sunday night.

The former Scotland player, who has scored 28 goals in all competitions this season, beat off competition from team-mates Fraser Forster and Virgil van Dijk and Kilmarnock striker Kris Boyd.

He told the official Celtic website: “I never thought it was going to be myself being called up to the stage the other night to accept it, but I have to give credit to the others who were nominated.

“It’s great to be nominated by your fellow professionals – it’s an honour and for them to recognise how well I’ve played this season is tremendous.”
