Craig 'Toorie' Winter ends playing time at Cowdenbeath

Four hundred man cancels contract at Blue Brazil

Cowdenbeath stalwart Craig ‘Toorie’ Winter, who has clocked up over 400 matches in two spells with the Blue Brazil after first playing for them in 1994, has ended his playing days at Central Park after agreeing that his contract could be terminated early.

The Fife club’s second highest ever appearance holder, behind goalkeeper Raymond Allan, recently played in his 600th competitive game during a loan spell at East Stirling and he is also enjoying his testimonial season with the Blue Brazil.

Craig WinterWinter, who is a now a target for Junior side Hill of Beath Hawthorn, will still be seen around as he is starting a new career by helping out Derek Nicholson with their under 19 side as he begins working his way to towards his B coaching licence.

A club spokesperson said, “Craig has been a magnificent servant for Cowdenbeath and he was a key part of the promotion successes in 2000/01 and 2009/10. He is already in our Hall of Fame and everyone at Central Park wishes him good luck with his future playing and coaching career.
