Cup victory boosts Hibs

Hibernian manager Alan Stubbs was delighted to see his side reach the quarter-finals of the League Cup with a 2-0 win over Ross County on Tuesday.

Hibernian manager Alan Stubbs was delighted to see his side reach the quarter-finals of the Scottish League Cup with a 2-0 win over Ross County on Tuesday.

Recent signing Dominique Malonga netted a first-half double as Hibs won away from home for only the second time since beating the Staggies in the Premiership at the Global Energy Stadium on Boxing Day.

Stubbs said: "We scored two really good goals and it gave us a platform to build on. I think we played well and no-one could say we didn't deserve to win the game.

"I thought we defended much better as a team - we coped with a lot of the crosses that came in by being in the right positions. I still think we can get better but it was a night of positives."
