Dash for cash Plenderleith heads for Commonwealth Games

Former Stenhousemuir player selected for Commonwealth Games

Scottish football will be represented at Glasgow’s Commonwealth Games this summer after the winner of the 2012 Ramsdens Cup ‘Dash for Cash’ Grant Plenderleith was selected to compete in the 400 metres for the national squad.

Plenderleith was a Stenhousemuir player when he won a competition designed to find out who the quickest player in Scotland was just before the Ramsdens Cup Final between Hamilton Accies and Falkirk in 2012.

The 23-year-old made 18 appearances for the Warriors and also played for Bo’ness Juniors before opting to concentrate on an athletics career that had shone at school.

Plenderleith was rewarded with a £2,500 prize for his dash across the West Lothian ground and now he is competing for Gold with a Ramsdens spokesperson saying: “We are delighted that Grant has moved on so successfully from our ‘Dash for Cash’ competition. We wish him well as he goes for Gold with Scotland.”
