Patrick Deane scored twice as Hibernian beat Rangers 2-1 to move six points clear at the top of the Clydesdale Bank U19 League at the weekend.

Deane's double earned Hibs all three points despite a consolation goal from Gordon Dick as Rangers suffered their first defeat.

Hearts are up to second place after goals from Mark Cowan and Conrad Balatoni earned a 2-1 win at Dundee United, who scored through Michael Lee.

A last-minute goal earned Motherwell a 2-1 comeback win over St Mirren, who took the lead through Graeme Ramage. Robert McHugh equalised before Steven Meechan struck late on.

Paul Sludden and Scott Davidson were the men on target as Falkirk overcame Hamilton 2-0 while Inverness CT edged out Kilmarnock 3-2. Daniel Welsh, Shane Sutherland and Kevin Fraser netted for Caley Thistle, with Daniel McKay and Euan Cunningham on target for Killie.
