Stranraer’s Player of the Year Mark Docherty is having sleepless nights already even though his not due to become a dad until later this week. The 26 year old former St Mirren, Stirling Albion, Brechin City, Annan and Alloa player is torn between staying at the Stair Park club or trying his luck at a higher level and that is causing him to lie awake at night.
Docherty said: “I have only been one season at Stranraer and I have really enjoyed it. The people at the club have been terrific to me and they have made me a good offer to stay. However I had a good season and there is interest from Championship clubs that could be firmed up soon.”
“I would like to test myself at a higher level but I am reluctant to leave a club that I have enjoyed being at. My first baby is due this week and I am already not sleeping as I cannot make my mind up over what to do.”
Docherty added: “Once the baby is here I will need to decide where my future lies.”
