Aberdeen trained in the Anoeta Stadium on Wednesday as they prepare for their Europa League qualifier against Real Sociedad in San Sebastian.

The Dons face the Spanish side on Thursday, kick-off 7.30pm, with the return match at Pittodrie next week.

Derek McInnes' men have already knocked out Latvian outfit Daugava Riga and FC Groningen of Holland and now face a stiff test against a Sociedad side who finished seventh in La Liga last season but have yet to begin their 2014/15 campaign.

McInnes said: "We feel that as a team we are in a good place just now and take the confidence from the start we have had to our season.

"However, we understand the level of opponent we are up against so, while we might be ahead in physical condition, I still think it is a very difficult game for us."

St Johnstone claimed a thrilling penalty shoot-out win over FC Luzern last week - the sides finishing level on aggregate after a pair of 1-1 draws.

Their reward is a meeting with Spartak Trnava of Slovakia in the third qualifying round, with the first leg at McDiarmid Park.

Saints No 2 Callum Davidson said: "It's not been easy to find out about them but what we do know is that they are a tough team and it will be a slightly different game from Luzern.

"They will probably be a little bit more direct and will keep their shape really well. A win in the first leg is not imperative but it would be nice."
